Power Dialer
A power dialer is a calling tool that automatically dials the next number on a list as soon as a rep finishes the previous call.
With manual dialing, a rep finds a number, types it, waits, logs the result, and repeats. A power dialer removes the typing and searching. The rep clicks start, and the dialer calls one number at a time, moving to the next as soon as the rep sets a disposition.
Key traits:
- One line at a time per rep, so when someone answers, the rep is already on the line. That means no dead air for the person called.
- Faster than manual dialing, slower than parallel or predictive dialing.
- Usually includes voicemail drop, call notes, and CRM logging.
Power dialers work well for teams that want more dials without the abandoned-call risk of predictive dialers. They suit smaller lists and higher-value leads where each conversation matters.
Compliance still applies. Depending on how a dialer works, it may or may not count as an autodialer under the TCPA, and courts have looked at that question closely. Regardless, scrub against do-not-call lists, respect calling windows, and log consent. If the dialer plays a prerecorded or AI voice message, artificial voice consent rules apply.
